Moss Kaufman has spent his entire career in the financial services industry. He spent just over a year as a banking trainee before spending 5 years as an insurance agent, agency manager and then as an independent broker. Moss has an active financial planning practice as well as a tax practice for which he prepares over 350 individual and trust returns a year. He often works in cooperation with accountants, financial planners, attorneys, and other advisors.
Moss majored in economics in college and continued his studies in that field on a graduate level before starting his career in Financial Planning. Moss has the following FINRA registrations: 6, 7, and 63. He became a CFP in November of 1994 and was enrolled to practice before the IRS in June 1996. On July 2001 he completed studies and became a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute.
He tries to spend at least 80 hours a year taking professional educational courses and seminars. Over the years he has taught and lectured before civic and community groups in various capacities as a financial planner and tax adviser. He has taught CE courses for the FPA, NATP, NYSIA as well as NCCPAP and the IRS. Moss has been a volunteer and has served on many boards and committees. He is a past president of the Long Island Chapter of the Financial Planning Association.
